CVEC participates in the college scholarship program sponsored by the Virginia, Maryland, & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC).

The VMDAEC Education Scholarship Foundation Board selects recipients based on a combination of weighted criteria: financial need at 40%, academic achievement at 40%, and personal statement at 20%.

The number of scholarships awarded each year is based upon funds available in the Foundation. Over the last 15 years, over 600 students have received funds for college.

Any graduating senior who's parents or guardians are members of CVEC are eligible to apply.

Students must be graduating and accepted at college or technical/trade school the following fall semester.

The $1000 scholarships can be used for tuition, student fees, room and board, or the purchase of books.

VMDAEC asks that all applications be submitted online as digital files. There are further instructions and details on the VMDAEC site here.

Some of the requirements have changed for 2018:

• A letter of recommendation is not required

• The SAT and/or ACT score MUST come from the College Board. This information can be found on, and the ACT student report can be found on Scores listed on transcripts do not qualify.

• If a student takes the SAT more than once, he/she may take the best score from each test ("Super Score") for the online application but both tests must be submitted in the package to qualify.
